Visit the beach – enjoy God’s splendor

I enjoy going to the beach. There is a sign on the wall of the vacation home we used to rent in Duck, NC that says “Heaven is a little closer when you live in a house by the sea”. I think there is probably more truth in this simple statement than one would expect.

Being near water can be powerful

Every time I am near the sea I feel the presence of God more easily. The grandness of the ocean and the power of the sun on the beach remind me of God’s greatness and how He is involved in all the natural splendor that we experience in this life. It is a healthy reminder of how great He is, and how small I am.

We have been to the beach many times

Both of you have enjoyed trips to the Outer Banks, the Bahamas, and Mexico. These trips all cost a fair amount of money, but I think they are worth it. I have also had the opportunity to see many other beaches to include France, Greece, Puerto Rico, Southern California, Italy, Jamaica, Antigua, and Hawaii. It always great to get away and enjoy the simple things in life like a beautiful sunset. Kim took the picture below which is from our trip to Antigua. Awesome sunsets there.

Let’s go to the beach next year

I hope to take you to more beaches one day so that you can experience a little more heaven here on earth. Next year Kim and I will celebrate our first anniversary. We hope you join us at Turks and Caicos. It is going to be an awesome time.

“O LORD, our Lord,
how majestic is your name in all the earth!
You have set your glory
above the heavens.”

Psalms 8:1-2

I am Doug Keating and this is my letter to sons.
