We were lucky enough to visit Bavaria Germany this summer. We started our adventure in Munich. Here are five reasons I love spending time in the capital city of Bavaria – a really fun place.

The #1 reason I love spending time in Munich – Beer

Munich has the best beer in the world. It is full of world-class breweries to include famous ones like the Hofbrauhaus. If you visit be sure to swing by there. Sure it will be full of tourists, but it is a ton of fun. The best beer city in the world is Munich. If you love beer as I do, then this is the place to visit the next time you are in Europe.

Reason #2 – Sites

The old part of Munich houses plenty of things to see and do. Start your tour in Marienplatz and explore from there. Be sure to visit the Frauenkirche, Royal Residenz, and then climb the tour of St. Peter’s church for excellent city views. Good news – the old part of the city is walkable.

The views from St. Peter’s church are great for photos of the city.

Reason #3 – Football

The best football (aka soccer) in the world is from Munich – Bayern Munchen. The city contains several team stores if you want to buy some gear. Sure – I am biased because I am a fan. But, if you love football, Munich is a great city to visit. Right up there with London, Paris, and Barcelona when it comes to football.

Serious fans wear their Bayern gear with pride when in Bavaria.

Reason #4 – Food

I love Bavarian food. Sure it is hearty, heavy, and full of calories. I probably put on ten pounds during our last visit. But, I enjoy eating schweinshaxen, wurst, knoedel, schweinbraten, spaetzel, and all other kinds of Bavarian food. Munich offers many different places to sample standard German dishes like sauerkraut and schnitzel.

Reason #5 – Fun

People in this city like to have fun. They host Oktoberfest every year which is basically a big block party that people from around the world attend. There are beer gardens all over the city. If you want to have some fun while visiting, spend an afternoon in a beer garden with your friends enjoying some tasty Bavarian beers.
