I will give thanks this year – we are blessed

This weekend in America we celebrate Thanksgiving. It is a day to stop, think, and give thanks to God for all that we have. It is easy to forget to be thankful. I am not sure you realize it, but you are blessed… especially compared to other children in the world. A majority of the people in this world live in poverty. They live off less than $2/day. Think about that amount. It is practically nothing. One cannot even buy a decent cup of coffee at Starbucks for $2, or a sufficient meal at a fast-food restaurant.

Opa is the man, they myth, the legend.
My father passing away was the hardest part of the year for me.

You have many blessings, and should give thanks

You have a roof over your head, you do not wonder if you will eat today, you have parents who love you, and take care of you. I am not saying that you have an easy life. All of us have struggles. Rather I am saying that your basics needs are supplied, unlike many others who have to struggle every day just to get by in this world. Be sure to thank God for all these blessings, and make the most of what you have been given. I thank God every day that you are my kids and bless my life. I am also thankful this year that I was able to marry the woman I love – Kim Parker.

Kim and I were married this year at home.

We survived the challenges of this year

2020 has been an awful year for the world. So many problems, too few solutions. Despite everything that has gone wrong in the world, we are still alive. We survived all the trials of 2020. I am both excited about the future and eager to get on with life once the COVID crisis is contained.

Coronavirus impacted everyone this year.

Do not be anxious about anything, but in everything by prayer and supplication with thanksgiving let your requests be made known to God. And the peace of God, which surpasses all understanding, will guard your hearts and your minds in Christ Jesus.

Philippians 4:6-7
