2023

2022 was a decent year for rock music. I sample new music as much as possible using Spotify. Here is my list of the top ten rock albums for 2022. As always your feedback and thoughts are welcome.

At #10 is the future by Nathaniel Ratcliff and the Night Sweats

Let’s start at #10 is Nathaniel Rateliff and the Night Sweats with the future. I love this band’s name. His music is bluesy rock music that I enjoy a lot. I am including links to Spotify in case you want to sample any of these albums.

Number 9. Band of Horses – Things are Great

At #9 is an obscure choice with Things are Great by the Band of Horses. There are several excellent songs on this album. A few of them remind me of early Cure.

#8 album for 2022. Eddie Vedder – Earthling

At #8 is an artist that many of you will know, Eddie Vedder. He is the lead singer for the band Pearl Jam. Eddie released a solo album that is actually pretty good. The funny thing about Eddie is that he is starting to sound like other artists as he ages like Peter Gabriel.

Number 7. Lumineers – Brightside

Last year one of my favorite bands, The Lumineers, released an excellent album, Brightside. It is a mellow album. If you like their lighter music, then you will enjoy this album.

#6 album for 2022. Tears for Fears – The Tipping Point

At #6, is one of my favorite bands from the 1980s – Tears for Fears. They surprised everyone by releasing The Tipping Point last year. This record includes several great songs on it. Tears for Fears play adult contemporary music these days, so don’t expect the new wave sound found on their classic 80s albums.

Number 5 album for 2022. Caamp – Lavender Days

Coming in at #5 is another modern band that I enjoy, Caamp. They released another great album with Lavender Days. Their acoustic music is enticing. The more I listen to this band, the more I enjoy them.

#4 album. Black Keys – Dropout Boogie

At #4 is the Black Keys. This band is on a roll. Dropout Boogie is another excellent album. There is not a bad song on this record – it just rocks.

Number 3 album. Jack White – Fear of the Dawn

At #3 is Jack White. He returned with a vengeance releasing two albums last year. One was a hard rocking record, the other was acoustic. I prefer the former, Fear of the Dawn. This album starts strong and just goes. I recommend you listen to the first three songs and then decide if you want to keep rocking, or not.

The second-best album of 2022 is Spoon – Lucifer on the Couch

At #2 is another band that is on a roll, Spoon. They released Lucifer on the Couch which is full of great songs. I almost made this album #1 – that is how good it is.

The best album of 2022 is RHCP – Unlimited Love

Let’s finish the list with The Red Hot Chilli Peppers at #1. Talk about a band that is putting out a ton of great music. The RHCPs released two double albums last year. Both of them are good. I prefer Unlimited Love. It starts strong and will take you on a musical journey. I recommend buying this album on vinyl.

There you have it – my top ten albums of 2022. I hope you enjoyed it. If you recommend a record- let me know in the comments. All feedback is welcome. Feel free to post your own list.
