I’m returning to my top 50 favorite rock bands. In this video series, I’m identifying the best three albums by each band. This blog is for band #33 – CCR, Credence Clearwater Revival.

Criteria for selecting the best three albums

First, the band must have more than three albums. CCR was not around for a long time but they definitely have more than three albums. Second, Greatest Hits albums are allowed. You will see one today and I will explain why. Third no live albums are permitted. CCR’s Live at Albert Hall, an album I just recently discovered, is a great recording with all their wonderful hit songs.

The third-best album by this band is Green River

The third-best album by CCR is called Green River. This band went on a tear releasing a ton of Music in a short period of time. This is one of the albums from that period. It includes the well-known song “Bad Moon Rising” as well as “Lodi”. It is an excellent album.

The second-best album by CCR

The second-best album by CCR is called Cosmos Factory. I own this one on vinyl. It is full of well-known songs. For example “Traveling Band”, “Up around the Bend”, “Who Will Stop the Rain” and their version of “Heard it Through the Grapevine” are on this record. It is a really good album.

The best album by CCR

The best album by CCR is Chronicle. It is the greatest hits compilation. I’m trying not to overdo the greatest hits albums on the list, but this one is worth owning. I have it on vinyl. It’s a double LP. You will probably know every song on this album if you are a CCR fan. It’s just such an enjoyable record to listen to at the end of a long day.

There you have it – the three best CCR albums. I hope you enjoy them as much as I do.

I am Doug Keating and this is my letter to my sons.
