I’m returning to my top 50 favorite rock bands. In this video series, I’m identifying the best three albums by each band. This blog is for band #38 – The Connells.

Criteria for selecting the best three albums

First, the band must have at least three albums. No issue for The Connells they’ve been around for decades. Second Greatest Hits albums are permitted. I’m trying not to overdo it so you will not see one today. Third – no live albums. The Connells have not released a lot of live music although it does look like they’re planning to release a concert album soon.

The third-best album by this band is One Simple Word

The third-best Connells album is One Simple Word. Back in the late 80s, this band went on a hot streak. They released three killer albums in a row. This was the last one. It’s gonna sound funny to some 1of you because you never heard of this band, but it’s actually hard to pick their best three records because this band released so many good albums. I’m sticking with just the great ones. One Simple Work is excellent.

The second-best album by The Connells

The second-best album by The Connells is called Fun and Games. An excellent album with end-to-end great music. It has a fascinating mix of what I would describe as guitar-driven songs along with several softer acoustic ones. A really nice blend that I played a ton back in the day when I was in college and still enjoy it today.

The best album by The Connells

The best album by the Connells is called Boylan Heights. If you’ve never heard of this band this is a great place to start. It was the first album I ever heard by them made me fall in love with this band. I own it on vinyl. The record starts with “Scotty’s Lament” and goes from there. If you don’t like this album I’m pretty sure you will not like the rest of their music. It is a wonderful wonderful album.

There you have it – the three best Connells albums. I hope you enjoy them as much as I do.

I am Doug Keating and this is my letter to my sons.
