I’m returning to my top 50 favorite rock bands. In this video series, I’m identifying the best three albums by each band. This blog is for band #44 – Echo and the Bunnymen.

Criteria for selecting the best three albums

Here are the three criteria I used to create this list. First, the band must have released at least three albums. No issue for Echo and the Bunnymen. They released a lot of records over the years. Second, Greatest Hits albums are in the mix. You will definitely see one today. Third – no live albums. This band released many live albums and several of them are pretty good.

The third-best album by this band is Ocean Rain

The third-best album by Echo and the Bunnymen is Ocean Rain. It is one of their earlier records. Let’s face it there’s some pretty weird stuff on some of their early albums. One of their best songs “The Killing Moon” is found on this album. If you want to pick an early album this is the one I would choose.

The second-best album by Echo and the Bunnymen

The second-best album by Echo and the Bunnymen is a greatest hits compilation called Songs to Learn and Sing. It includes most of their hit songs, especially all the ones from the 80s. If you enjoy Echo then this record is worth a listen.

The best album by Echo and the Bunnymen

The best album by this band is their self-titled album. It includes my favorite song by this band “Lips Like Sugar” as well as “Bed bugs and Ballyhoo” and several other really catchy songs. If you only get one album, this is the one I would select.

There you have it – the three best Echo and the Bunnymen albums. I hope you enjoy them as much as I do.

I am Doug Keating and this is my letter to my sons.
